Gossip mongers at work

Comments on your dress, the way you talk, about your personal life, … , every working woman would be familiar with this. Comments and taunts about your personal life come from both male and female colleagues. It is well known that there are no permanent enemies or friends at work. So comments about your appearence or lifestyle can come from anyone or everyone at workplace.

Taking these comments to heart is of no good to anyone. The gossip monger feels encouraged to continue if their gossip is respected, accepted and taken to heart. But if it is just  brushed aside as an unwanted lowly talk, it would discourage the gossip monger and make her leave you in peace.

raise above gossips at work

There is a dirty chain of dedicated people at every office who take active interest in spreading gossips. They add their own bits and pieces to a small piece of gossip, make an ant into a mountain, and  broadcast it to every nook and corner. Beware and stay away from such people. Their friends are the first to fall prey to their gossip searching minds. If you are a part of the gossip chain,  remember it will be your turn one day to become a victim of these gossips.

The best way to keep yourself insulated from petty talk and gossip is to treat it as trash. If you hear a gossip about yourself, brush it aside and ignore it. If you hear a piece of gossip about your colleagues, stay away from such talk. It is dangerous to your brain and reputation, though it might seem proper and interesting.

Workplace is a place to work and only to work. Your colleagues are nothing but colleagues. Their appearance  or lifestyle or personal life has no place for opinions or discussions at office. If your colleague’s activities disturb you, either ignore it or discuss it with them face to face in a dignified manner. Discussing it with others or condemning it behind their back will not give you peace of mind or respect at workplace.

When work gets done, both you and your employer can relax and feel happy. Taking part in discussions about other’s personal life or appearance at workplace is addictive. Though interesting, it will not help in your progress at work. Neither will it help project yourself as a dignified person at your workplace.

  1. Hey there! I know this is kind of off topic
but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers
and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

    • I used blogger for quite a long time… But I was not happy with it. I have not had problems thus far with hackers. Not sure of other blogging platforms in terms of safety from hackers… Sorry that I could be of little help.
